DISPLAY DEVICES, NEXT WINDOW, KORTEK COLLABORATE TO CREATE INTERACTIVE DISPLAY KIOSK FOR MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES VISITOR CENTER

Joint Project Fuses Digital Signage, Touch-Screen Technology, and Outdoor Environmental Display Protection into One Attractive and Functional Package.

August, 2007, Arvada, CO. USA -- www.displaydevices.com -- In this digital age, information delivery using video-based signage on flat panel displays is commonplace. But what if you don't want to be confined to secure indoor locations to display your signage? What if you'd like to turn your static display into something customers can explore and touch? Aiming to overcome these limitations, Korea-based Kortek, Colorado-based Display Devices, and New Zealand-based Next Window set to work building an outdoor informational kiosk that not only offered rich media content and touch-screen interactivity, but could also withstand virtually any weather condition Mother Nature could throw at it. The resulting product now directs and educates travelers at a visitor center in Kern County, California.

"This product is a first-of-kind solution that allows the Kern County Board of Trade to showcase visitor information to travelers with an interactive approach."

Display Devices, Inc., an innovator in audio-visual support products, designed and manufactured the enclosure. Thanks to its rugged all-metal construction, bullet-resistant window and impact sensors, the kiosk effectively deters theft and vandalism. An integrated heater, air conditioner, and digital thermostat keep the display (a 46" Kortek industrial LCD) at safe operating temperatures regardless of weather conditions. User interactivity is provided by Next Window's precision optical touch-screen overlay mounted inside the enclosure door. This locking, hinged door allows authorized entrance into the enclosure. Once inside, a unique pivoting display mount makes service access a snap.
